Indigo Rice Resist Workshop (May - October)


1 or 2 - day introduction workshop

This workshop, led by Chinatsu Nagamune will cover the basics of the Japanese stencil and rice resist technique called Katazome. The class will start at 9:00am and continue until 3:30 in the afternoon. Learn how to create your own textile stencil. Attendees will also get the opportunity to apply their stencil to fabrics and then dye them in a natural indigo vat.

*Light snacks and refreshments are provided. 

PLEASE BRING:

  • An apron or piece of clothing you would be comfortable getting dirty or stained

  • Your own lunch/drinks

WHAT YOU'LL LEAVE WITH:

  • One Japanese cotton all-purpose cloth (tenugui)

  • Additional fabric provided by codo

  • Your own original dyeing stencil for future use

Participants

  • Ages 12 and up

  • No prior experience necessary

  • Space is limited to 4 attendees maximum (Please create a group of 4)

Weather/Cancellation Policy

  • In the event of severe inclement weather, we will either reschedule or provide a full refund. If you need to cancel, please do so 24 hours in advance. All cancelations will receive a full refund. Any cancellations within 24 hours cannot be refunded.
