Tying into the Porous Vessel by Anastatia Spicer August 8th 2026
On August 8th join textile artist and writer Anastatia Spicer (they/them) to learn foundational netmaking skills in the outdoor pavilion at CODO. Everyone will learn how to make a net bag with indigo-dyed linen dyed by Chinatsu Nagamune. Wooden netting tools and pre-dyed linen will be provided for students to use and take home.
Nets will be considered for their practical, metaphorical, and sculptural potential. As porous vessels that are at once a tether and an opening, your net could be used to carry vital doohickeys, apples, peaches, invaluable thingmabobs, and other precious cargo. Our nets will tie us into conversation with one another, as we anchor into the continuous looping and binding that is netmaking the work of the net will build between and among us.
